kuntzie
cracked the case, car still runs and moves, no damage internally, you better believe this car is power!
mfewtrail
I figured this would happen sooner or later. I seem to remember reading about the cases flexing(I think it was just flexing and not cracking) somewhat on higher hp getrag 282 cars a long time ago. RobertISaar
i can see the flywheel, but not sure where exactly i'm looking at.... is it near a mount? i've heard rumors about high TQ cars killing the cases if a certain mount was hooked up... xtremerevolution
Question for you, how did you deal with the oil filter adapter clearnace issues with the axle? I'm looking to swap a 282/284 myself.

xtremerevolution
putting another one in with a extra intermediate shaft bracket.. im using a buick reatta 3.8 adapter from the 1986 era. Have any pictures of what that looks like? Did that adapter require any modification, or was it a direct bolt-on, problem solved? I don't think I've ever seen a 1986 Reatta at a junkyard. ManicMechanic
Nobody's seen an '86 Reatta. Reattas period are pretty hard to find as it is.

White93z34
So was it the power, or the fact that the intermediate shaft was in no way supported? I would never do that on my stock 3.4 let alone on something putting roughly 3 times the power to the ground.
gpchris
Sounds like the intermediate shaft bracket he made was too weak. How do you plan on putting a longer final drive in? I didn't think anything was interchangeable with the 284.
