BXX
Alrighty, having issues finding parts to get all I need for the swap. Really, all I need to track down at this point is the clutch fork. Whats the interchange on these? anyone have a GM part number? I found these, but the one doesnt have a pic of the real part. http://www.drivewire.com/vehicle/1990-pontiac-grand-prix/clutch-fork/ http://www.drivewire.com/vehicle/1989-chevrolet-cavalier/clutch-fork/ Also, I need the lever that bolts/attaches to the clutch fork that the slave cylinder actuates. And I need the hydraulic line from the master to the slave cylinder. I just ordered new master and slave cylinders. I honestly never had lines off the unit, so I dont know what kind of fitting they use yet, so I dunno if I need the OE line, or if I can whip something up. So yes, please help!!! BXX
Went to both Cleveland Pullapart yards today. Each one, I found a 94 Cavalier, 2.2 OHV, 5-speed. Clutch shit looks very much correct. Slave cylidner appears to bolt in identical, then again, they might have the 282 trans. After an hour of working to remove the fuckin trans outta the one in Cleveland East, I got pwned by fuckin rust. Couldnt get the powertrain dropped to unbolt the trans from the engine to even know for sure if the clutch fork is the same or if it will work. Fuck!!! RobertISaar
4 cylinder j-bodies didn't get the 282, it's actually some shitty isuzu box.
BXX
hmmm, from the outside, the clutch fork is in the right spot, as was the slave cylinder. I wonder if its interchangable though.. Fuck, I need this part like right now!!! All other parts I have, and I have a few others than are easily gotten with a trip to the parts store. So no use in buying more parts if I dont have a clutch fork setup. Im gonna hitup carpart and look for a trans. I may have to buy a complete trans to get the damn clutch fork. Grrrrrr. BXX
Well we have part numbers of what I need. Knowing GM, old part numbers change so I need to at least figure out the new alternate part number. Maybe some dealer out in like Witchata BFE has one sitting on a shelf collecting dust
RobertISaar
IIRC.... it's the same trans as used in the 4 cylinder fieros.... that crowd avoids them like the plague, but they may know if it's able to be used.
BXX
I found the parts. Well the dealer by me located them. So now I have to call Michagan and Kansas:lol: Fuck I hope these arent that expensive
BXX
Yup, both dealers held them in their hands. I gotta make sure I have the money as these are the last of these anywhere in the country. Ill be getting a call tomorrow from the Michagan dealer to see what lower price they can give me since its been obsolete since 1999. He said it had like 2 inches of dust on it:lol: The dude was pretty cool. And the dealer in Kansas was a dick. Fuck him. However I got a price, and when I make sure I have enough money, im gonna call back and see if they can give me a better deal on it. In the meantime, anyone got one used???
