94vertluvr
LOL i'm almost finished removing the alternator and cannot seem to locate or at least know what my hands are feeling for..everyone says there is a rear mounting bolt for the alternator and my hands cannot seem to find it. I found the power line where the alternator is connected...does anyone know in relation to this where the rear mounting bolt is? Anyone have a pic of the rear of these freakin alternators LOL so i can quit typing with majorly greasy hands! Thanks a bunch!
GOT2B GM
you will feel a round bar brace running to the alternator from the block, the bolt attaches the alternator to that brace. Many people leave that bolt out upon reassembly without issue.
94vertluvr
I eventually 'found' it! LOL Amazing how much you can see with a little extra light!!! Thanks for the reply, so if that bolt is left out it will not impact the stability of the alternator and serpentine belt? Putting it all back together with my rebuilt alternator this afternoon; at least I know what wrenches or sockets to use!!! Will post details on that for all those who dare follow by RR'ng their own 3.4L alternator! Not sure if it's more scary as in Halloween or more an April fool's joke but those GM engineer's need their freaking heads examined on this one issue!
