spiderw31
Ok, looking for opinions here. Recently while driving the Paperweight, I noticed a very subtle yet distinct change in engine sound at idle. If I wasn't very in tune with the sound of the car, I doubt it would be heard. Anyways, it sounded like a very faint howling sound, much like what I heard when I first replaced the t-belt. After a listen around the timing belt area, it sounds like what I can heard from inside, but not worrisomely loud. I took off the front cam cog cover for a better listen though, and as expected it got a bit louder. What I didn't expect though was the whining that appears to be coming from the exhaust cam on the front bank. When I start to rev the motor up, there is a distinct moan / whine from that cam at about 1200-1400. I pulled my stethoscope out and it is loudest near the bearing near the cog of the exhaust cam. After that RPM, it seems to be quiet. Considering the history I've had with this car, I'm a bit jumpy when I notice things like this. I know I was rambling on with the description above, but does this sound like cause for concern, or should I just drive it and not worry so much? spiderw31
Any thoughts on this? I'll see if I can get a decent video of what it's doing...
