midstar Posted October 3, 2003 Report Posted October 3, 2003 I am looking for a high flow filter for my GTP I probably go custom but I don't have the time. I am looking at a Donaldson. They claim to stop more dirt than a paper and flow more air than a K&N. Quote
1badtgp Posted October 3, 2003 Report Posted October 3, 2003 No one beats K&N. Welll, IMHO. I tend not to take any chances on something that has very little testing. IIRC The Donaldson is actually a K&N ripoff, done by a couple of guys that were canned from K&N. It could be another company though. Quote
midstar Posted October 3, 2003 Author Report Posted October 3, 2003 Donaldson doesn't use cotton gause material. They use a synthetic material that is hot blown on to a wire mesh. That way when you wash it you don't loose any material. I haven't seen how K&N say how much dirt they stop compaired to a paper filter Quote
cutsup1996 Posted October 6, 2003 Report Posted October 6, 2003 fo real K&N is the best, use their oil filters too Quote
Redfox340 Posted October 6, 2003 Report Posted October 6, 2003 fo real K&N is the best, use their oil filters too Air Filter = yes Oil Filter = no... still using AC Delco. Especially after I read some TSB's about OF's while working @ Grease Monkey. - Erik Quote
cutsup1996 Posted October 6, 2003 Report Posted October 6, 2003 explain on your oil filter comment? Quote
Bolt_Crank Posted October 6, 2003 Report Posted October 6, 2003 KN&N uses an inferior material and construction in their oil filters... Delco pwnz j00 Quote
1trucavalier Posted October 6, 2003 Report Posted October 6, 2003 k%n cost to much IMO! you can get a spectre intake that I have used on all my cars without problem. $20 autozone! Quote
grandprix104 Posted October 6, 2003 Report Posted October 6, 2003 K&Ns are worth every penny - same with thier Oil Filters (which are made better than any fram, penzoil, stp, or other house brand) the only other oil filter id go with is Delco but you have to buy them from the dealer because they have stopped supplying most auto parts stores including Napa, Zoner's, Advance, and CSK. My Reccomendation is K&N thats what most all high performance enthusiasts use especially the hot-rodders (they love em). Quote
1trucavalier Posted October 6, 2003 Report Posted October 6, 2003 i bet my $20 spectre flows the same air as that $40+ k&n Quote
Bolt_Crank Posted October 6, 2003 Report Posted October 6, 2003 I bet my factory filter with all that dirt flows less :!: Quote
per0781 Posted October 6, 2003 Report Posted October 6, 2003 Auto Zone's and C.A.P.'s around my house carry AC Delco oil filters. Quote
Bolt_Crank Posted October 6, 2003 Report Posted October 6, 2003 Pat's Auto has a giant AC Delco sign on it Quote
gimp19 Posted October 6, 2003 Report Posted October 6, 2003 Auto Zone's and C.A.P.'s around my house carry AC Delco oil filters. Same here I can get Delco filters from AutoZone or Advance Auto Parts. Quote
Dannymik Posted October 7, 2003 Report Posted October 7, 2003 I have a K&N drop in air filter and I just(Saturday) switched my oil filter to AC Delco(Autozone) from a sure grip Fram. I'm glad to hear that the Delco's are recommended . Quote
Bolt_Crank Posted October 7, 2003 Report Posted October 7, 2003 dear god! YOU HAD A FRAM???????? Quote
sonyman87 Posted October 7, 2003 Report Posted October 7, 2003 k%n cost to much IMO! you can get a spectre intake that I have used on all my cars without problem. $20 autozone! How often do you have to change your spetre air filter... i have hadmy K&N for 50 thousand miles.. in regular filters at 10 dollars a pop i would have had 5 of them. total 50 bux us. my K&N only cost 45 bux us. + K&N is lifetime warranty. so every 10,000 miles i put on my car i just saved myself 10 bux on air filters. so you can see its an investment type of a thing. if you dont plan on haveing your car for that long just simply dont get one unless you are going for performance. 1trucavalier Posted October 7, 2003 Report Posted October 7, 2003 when i had my cavalier i had 40K on it when i got it and when i totalled it at 167K the same spectre filter was on it. You can wash it just like the K&N. No matter what is said you do not have to have a K&N! I have an accord intake pipe with 90deg bend and same spectre filter!!!!! Quote
