Denso O2 Sensors?

Anyone here run one, specifically with an L36? The Regal has been getting piss poor fuel mileage all summer, and it was suggested that the O2 sensor is possibly reading a tad too lean due to age and mileage and that it should probably be replaced. The parts store had Bosch, Denso and ACDelco's (which needed to be ordered in). I skipped over the Bosch, the Denso was $115 and the Delco was $190. Just wondering if the Denso will be worth my while keeping and installing, or if I should have them order in a Delco and be done with it.

Thoughts?

My thought is if you waited this long to fix it, whats another few days for shipping and save yourself some dollars instead of paying out the ass: AC Delco # AFS109 $61.79+ shipping on RA http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/raframecatalog.php or $69.96 free shipping over at Amazon http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=AFS109&x=0&y=0

I totally believe in supporting my local businesses, but when I see big differences in price, and I can afford to wait for the part, I mostly get stuff online. Hey, I gotta support myself too.

CHECK ROCKAUTO.

Denso is the OEM manufacturer for GM for some models years... for example an 02 GP I worked on. Avoid BOSCH. And the ACDELCO part is just a rebranded Denso, most likely.

Well i wasn't quite expecting to hear that...but thats great if that's the case. I knew that they OEM'd manufacturers like Honda, Toyota etc...but didn't know they OEM'd GM as well. As for ordering online...I will need to check that out. Most of the places I've checked out either don't ship to Canada, or they charge an arm and a leg for the shipping.

Guess if I really wanted to...I could order an identical Denso online, install the one I currently have in my car, then return the other one to the parts store...This way I am guaranteed the part in my hands to work on it this weekend...and I get to save some money too ;)

I just may go that route.

EDIT: I just placed my order on Rock auto for the Denso. After all the fees and shipping...it is about half the price of what I paid locally. It's also nice knowing that they ship to Canada and they charge all the customs fees up front so there are no surprises either. Guess we'll just wait and see what happens and how long the order takes to come in.

FYI, there are also discount codes always available for 5% off rockauto which can be found by serching for "rockauto coupon" and rockauto has been a very good place to get most parts...

P.S. where's my thanks?

I've always been leery about ordering car parts online...but seeing as how they charge everything upfront for shipping to Canada...I just may start ordering all my stuff through them as well. If this order goes well, then I will definitely put them at the top of my list!

Well got the new sensor installed and it went a Whole lot smoother than I had even planned. Just sprayed a little penetrating spray on the old one, let it sit for a few minutes then broke it free. No rust or corrosion on the threads like I was worried about. The whole process took me about 30 minutes start to finish...and that includes setting up and cleaning up after.

Now I just need to wait for my rockauto order to show up, so I can return that sensor to the parts store and get my $120 back:lol:

Hmmm. Guess my suggestion about Rock Auto in the first reply post didn't count:shrug: w/e. Anyway, don't forget about Amazon guys. I know what you're thinking :BOOKS right? Well, it's been almost a 50%-50% between RA and Amazon when it comes to ordering parts online for me. I've found a lot of the same part (same part # even) for cheaper on Amazon. And even if it's a little more $$, often times with the shipping on a RA order, and the discount, I've found a lot cheaper with the free shipping on about 90% of the parts on Amazon.

Edit: Oh, I totally agree with service as well. RA has been terrific about the shipping, which usually takes a mere 3-4 days from the time I place the order to when it shows up at my house. Amazon is about equal for shipping. Their free Super Saver shipping states the longest ship time of 5-9 days, but it's never taken more than 5-6 to show up.

It counted. It was your link that led me to their site and actually browse around there ;)

It's just been that most online stores that I have found either don't ship to Canada, or charge an arm and a leg for shipping, only for to get hit with extra customs fees and other BS just to get the product that I usually just buy locally...but after checking them out, I think I'll be doing a lot of ordering from them in the future. They charge everything upfront for Canadian orders so it's nice knowing exactly what it's going to cost me. Little shit I'll probably just get locally, but I will definitely compare the prices first and will order online where appropriate.

As for amazon...that can be a little tricky as not everything that is on amazon.com is available on amazon.ca. The free shipping doesn't apply to canadian orders either...so I will probably stick with RA for auto parts.

Hmmm, guess I forgot about the headaches involved with shipping across the border. Guess I'm spoiled then being stateside, but if RA is being that good about shipping to Canada, then hell ya. Just trying to help ya as I, and most others can attest that, sometimes local prices are outrageous and one can't afford to blow money like that.
