GTP091
The bearings on my steering pump are getting noisy and the pulley moves back and forth a bit now. Looking to replace. According to rock auto the pump is the same used on all 3.4 DOHC's even into 95, 96, 97. Is this accurate? They look the same in the JY I just want to make sure the bolts line up. There is a new pump on a 95 lumina in there... Any good tips to drain the lines of old fluid??
Highmilagecutlass
Ahhh yes I have a neat little trick for doing this, I was having problems with my power steering pump growling when the temperature went below freezing, The fluid was to thick and it was like churning butter in my pump. So a really good friend of mine suggested buying a cheap turkey baster from the dollar store And use that to remove the old fluid, worked like a charm !! I found the thinnest power steering fluid could get and added , problem solved Just make sure if that it stays in your tool box till you need it again and doesn't end up in the kitchen
RobertISaar
turkey baster is kinda ghetto, but it should certainly work... i use a hand-held vacuum pump with about 2 feet of vinyl tubing on both suction and pressure side. Highmilagecutlass
For a guy with no or low dough ! a Turkey baster will do the job, not every one has a hand held vacuum pump
