brother pig
Hey everyone. I'm new to the board, as I just aquired a 95 grand prix. I'll probably have a lot of simple questions in the future, so be prepared! Anyway, here goes. According to my RPO codes, I have Z7K, which is "Model Conversion, Pontiac Grand Prix LE." What does this mean, and what is the difference between LE and SE? My emblems say SE, which is what I thought all grand prix coupes in 95 were. Any input? Thanks
Robby1870
Yours is an SE. The LE was dropped after 93, I think. The model conversion I think means that its just not an LE but SE, but still the base model.
The Burning Rom
The LE and STE were dropped in 94.
MaroonRegal
Why "brother pig"? Been reading too much Orwell?
GPdriver1986
so what was a fully loaded sedan called after 94 ?
kfahn
GT I believe
supreme_style21
The sedan didn't become a GT until the 3.4 was added, right?
ismellrealbad
and even then it didnt say GT on it....it just became one
supreme_style21
Are you sure? I know I've seen '94-'96 sedans badged with 'GT'.
ismellrealbad
ive never seen one, in real life or listed online
J
i thought se's were 3100 or 3.1's and the gtps were 3.4's?!
Brian P
I think it's pronounced "Bruvah pig"
SmokesGTP
They say GT on them. I've seen a few of them.
brother pig
alright, here goes about my name. It is pronounced just like it is spelled, and it came about a *long* time ago, while my bother and I (and other friends) were in a community play, so named "Charlotte's Web." As you can imagine, my brother was Wilbur, and eventually everyone started calling me brother pig. That name stuck during high school, but now I just use it as login names on forums and such, because most of the time the name isn't taken....go figure. Anyway, thanks to those who have chimed in on the LE-SE subject. One more question though; the LE was the base model? If so, my car has a lot of options, so I wouldn't think it's the base model. Thanks.
Robby1870
In 95, there were two model options, the SE and the GTP. I think you could get a fully loaded SE, just like the GTP, but minus the 3.4 DOHC. So, technically, it is the "base model", but with some extras

supreme_style21
'94 GP sedan. Badged as SE with 3.4L. Looks like it has every option available  But still remains an SE. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2435756519&category=6422
ismellrealbad
holy crap ive never seen a 100% fully loaded 4dr........and could that engine be any dirtier?.......still an SE
supreme_style21
So I had always thought a 3.4 made it a GT... but it shows right there it doesn't. So what makes a GT a GT?
ismellrealbad
i think its just a GT *package* and not an actual trim line. but yet people have claimed to see a 4 door with GT badges? actually honestly i dont even think ive ever seen any first gen GP wit h a GT badge.....STE, TGP, GTP, SE and LE are the only badges ive ever seen. gen2 is a diff story. u can have 2 or 4 door SE, GT and GTP
SmokesGTP
I've seen several GT's that were first gen, Right on the side of the front doors it says grand prix gt, and no I am not talking about 97+.
