spiderw31
If the test for spark was good and there really is no spark, I'd be betting on the ICM. Mine died suddenly at speed almost exactly as described. Rob, you are also right about the timing belt; it is very possible that it slipped. Right now my money would be one one of those two being the culprit. If I was closer / had spare time, I'd help out too, but alas no can do. thatcutteeboy
I fixed it. She's back on the road. It was the ICM and it was a PITA to get to. Crazy K I did it the hard way. I unbolted the whole bracket from the block, which I had to remove the starter. I should have checked back here before I started working on it, but my computer has been acting up. Thank's guys for all your help and all the guys that are willing to help if they had the opportunity. Well until the next time something breaks PEACE OUT. I still would like to get my timing belt changed. ANYBODY.
virtuetovice
Glad to see you got her running again. What's up with your computer? Maybe I could be of good assistance there. If you really need some help with it, let me know here or PM me and I'll get you straight:thumbsup:
thatcutteeboy
I am pretty sure he failed regarding performing the spark test. Don't base your diagnosis on what he tells you, there is a reason he is asking for someone near him to come help him perform there otherwise simple diagnostic tests. By the way ThatCuteeBoy I am not trying to offend you I am just basing my opinion on observations of things you have posted here and other threads. I think based on what happened to him on the road his timing belt slipped JUST LIKE I SAID BACK in the third post!! Yet he said I was not being serious !! Someone capable of timing a LQ1 needs to pay him a visit, lord knows if I had time right now with him only being 100 miles away I'd gladly help him but I cant for a while. I wasn't asking anyone to do anything but give me ideas on what it could've been. I did the spark test, it just that I did it after I posted here for suggestions. No offense taking, Its just at the time I posted this thread my daily driver was down and it was very serious since I needed to get back and forth to work everyday. I am capable of fixing my own cars it just I didn't have time for guessing. So if there was someone around to have come and fix it they would have made some money. I was off work today so I took care of it myself. It only cost me $68.00 for a new ICM and a little time. By the way is this not the place to come to for help with my W-BODY. If I don't know something, it does not mean that I don't know how to work on cars. And it's thatcutteeboy by the way.

Good deal, and glad to hear you got it running again! If you ever have to do the job again and you don't know already, it is much easier to just remove the coil packs and leave the plate bolted to the block. Just move one of the rad fans over a few inches and you won't scrape your hand up like crazy either. I've had to pull my ICM at least 5 or 6 times, and I can do it this way in about 15-20 minutes now
