ruktosk Posted August 15, 2010 Report Posted August 15, 2010 The A/C in my anteater hasn't worked in years and I've finally decided to fix it. Being unemployed and immensely bored has motivated me to replace the compressor. Never mind all the heat and the fact that with a darker interior, the car really can't be driven unless you intend on roasting. I know that compressors use oil and that you have to make sure that you replace the oil when installing a new compressor. On RockAuto, I purchased an "oil-less" compressor and am a bit confused as to what exactly "oil-less" means. Does it mean that the compressor does not come with oil and I will need to source it and have it on-hand for the installation? Or does it mean that the compressor requires no oil whatsoever? Is anyone interested in a writeup on how to do this? Replacing the compressor, then evacuating and charging the system? Again, I've got nothing but time... Quote

ruktosk Posted August 15, 2010 Author Report Posted August 15, 2010 Thanks for the link. There's a lot of good information there about a vehicle's A/C system. Quote
