gpchris
I have the low oil light on (most of the time). Sometimes it will go off i restart the car. It started doing this shortly after my 5 speed swap. I'm assuming it's because the oil level sensor sat in the "low" position for over 2 months. But my low coolant light just started flashing. Both coolant and oil are full. I'm thinking the sensors are bad from sitting but could it be the instrument cluster? I know neons have random light problems because of the way the boards were soldered. Is it the same thing here or are my sensors just bad from sitting (and being a million years old)? RobertISaar
15 year old sensor? sounds like it could be an issue... especially if they were allowed to sit in a "low" state.... i know the coolant level is done through the dash alone, but i can't remember if oil level is done through the PCM or not... i'd have to look at my diagrams. gpchris
Nope. I already looked at the diagrams. Both sensors go straight thru a few connectors to the instrument cluster. I know the low coolant light is a common problem with the w-bodys but I never heard anything about the low oil light. I'm Really thinking it's the sensors. Off topic but I'm surprised I don't have a check engine light with the manual trans and another ot, I'm almost positive my speedometer is reading the correct mileage. RobertISaar
depending on the number of notches in the VSS reluctorin the trans now, compared to what it was setup for, you MAY be reading the right MPH... couldn't say without knowing the specifics of the 282. there is a bit of leeway in the 1.5 PCMs until they fire off codes... if you put it in a strange enough condition, it will realize it and set codes, but normal useage won't cause issues.
