94vertluvr
Hello, I'm curious if any of you have ever swapped a 3.4 DOHC for a different engine. I have a Cutlass that I may be doing some kind of swap for. If you have what engine did you go with? Why? What were the fitting issues? What about the tranny issues? I thought I was going to have a low mileage 3.4 DOHC engine to put in my convertible but the engine turned out to be a 3100 and I think my mechanic may be having trouble finding a descent 3.4. Any thoughts or help please? Thanks!

Thanks! the most common engine swap is the L67 (supercharged 3800 series II) ....I certainly wouldn't let him go with the 3100 under ANY circumstances....the easiest thing to do is to keep looking for a good 3.4, they are out there and shouldn't be too hard to find
94vertluvr
Yeah i don't want a 3100 in it; if anything I'd like something with a little more juice. I'm sure the 3800 supercharged has plenty. Are these good and reliable? I guess I'd have to replace the tranny too? What about the computer or does it have one? mfewtrail
Check out http://www.car-part.com and see if you can find a 3.4 DOHC nearby. Like Jeremy said above, throwing another 3.4 in there is the easiest thing to do(also cheapest).
