GPX
There are some things of "value" on my '96 Cutlass. I'm considering putting them on my '92 Lumina. The Cutlass has an LA1 with less than 47K on it. The cutlass has fairly new "lifetime" front wheel bearings, the lumina needs them Will the Cutlass electronic trans work in the Lumina? I have an AWeb RSTB which I presume works in the Lumina. I also have a very good FE3 suspension from a '93 GTP that was going in the Cutlass that I presume will work. There may be some items up for sale otherwise...
GPX
The Lumina needs: Windshield, gas tank (possible repair), front wheel bearings, some electrical work inside, also gets a brand NAPA Legend battery from the Cutlass, an extra set of wheels and summer tires, (winter tires on Lumi now), K&N filter, decent radio and speakers. Only $50 investing in the car. The body is in great shape for an 18 year old car that hasn't been pampered. Some holes in the rockers--not too bad. It will never be a show car, but could be fun transportation for a few years.
GnatGoSplat
If you swap the PCM and engine harness, the trans should work. I think everything you have will swap over.
GPX
Thanks Shawn. I think I can finally stop mourning the Redcar and get it out of my yard. Another question, Since my LA1 has already been modified to fit in the '96 Cutlass, is it and the trans a "drop-in" or is there further mod (beyond PCM) upgrading from the 3.1 MFI? GnatGoSplat
What happened to your Cutlass? I don't remember you mentioning what happened to it before. Engine and trans should bolt right up to your subframe because the subframes are the same. I think you'd want to use the 96 underhood wiring, but I'm not sure that it's going to be plug & play, I'm sure some work will need to be done to the wiring because a few things were different in 96... the electronic tranny for one. Pinouts of the C100 firewall connector may differ a little. You could use all of the 96 electrical centers, but they are in slightly different locations. It's not going to be quite as easy as putting the LA1 into your 96, but definitely do-able.
GPX
This is what happened to the Cutlass: http://www.w-body.com/showthread.php/46495-rusty-control-arm-attachment-HELP/page2 The other side didn't look too good either, but not falling apart like this. The rest of the underbody and exterior were great. :-(
GnatGoSplat
Wow, that's not good. Crazy the amount of salt they use in the north east! The Lumina doesn't look that far behind, better POR5 that and QUICK!
