ruktosk
How hard is it to pull the pump/sender assembly from the tank on a 2nd gen? My service manual has a diagram of the trunk with what looks like an access door to get to it without dropping the tank. Does anyone know if you can remove the assembly without dropping the tank? I've been needing to replace the float on the sender for years now.
GnatGoSplat
You sure can, but doesn't it say so in your service manual? It sure says you can in GM ESI. I remember reading that and feeling very jealous of gen 2 owners because gen 1, you gotta drop the tank.
Brian P
Yup! I replaced the sender on my sister's '02 GP in that fashion.
ruktosk
Thanks guys! Glad I don't have to drop the tank. Had to change the fuel pump in my old Cavalier 4 times and each time involved dropping the tank. Not doing it again on ANY vehicle.
slick
Very easy to access the panel! Just pull back the trunk carpet. If the rear seat is fold down, that would make life much better, as you could sit on the seat and pull it instead of crawling in the trunk. ruktosk
No fold down seats unfortunately. Though, I'll take crawling into the trunk over crawling under the car any day.
