Biohazed
Ok as the title says I failed my annual Pennsylvania Emmissions test on the Grand Prix due to no monitors reporting except for the Air Injection. the Mechanic was baffled as was I... and said i may have a bad PCM... gonna run it up there before I get to work on it and they are gonna re-run the test and see if another sensor may of readied .... now has anyone else experienced this? or does anyone have any idea what to do to get it through. The car has a stock PCM so obviously nothing to do with a tune or something like that, any other mods that may (i highly doubt) that maybe causing any issue is a SLP CAI, ZZP 2 1/2" Cat back and a ZZP 2 1/2" DP.... any help would be greatly appreciated. 94 olds vert
When you go to get it tested, make sure it's at its normal operating temp. You could try changing spark plugs, air filter, and the PCV valve. Those could help improve your emissions.
Biohazed
its not that I have an emissions runability problem its the monitors not reporting ready so I can get it through emissions
Crazy K
???????????? IS YOU CAR AT OPERATING TEMPERATURE?
Mach 5
you have OBD 2 right? I would just scan it for codes dont clear them then with the car completely cold do 3 drive cycles around 30miles with no cruise control and gas between a 1/4 and 3/4 of a tank and dont let the car warm up. if the coolant temp is more than 10degrees diff than the air temp it wont run the evap test that is when you first do your drive cycle. then go back and have it retested. -Jarek
BXX
Yeah, hell, a good scan tool will allow you to manually run the drive cycle monitor tests. Otherwise, just drive itt until they all run.

dodgethis
No check engine light on whatsoever?
Biohazed
no check engine lights .... I think my PCM is being stupid ... I got my emissions test waived because I i spent over $150 on it when i did my exhaust, so I'm good for another year ... just reset the PCM today so we'll see what happens, hopefully I don't go thru this next year
jtwmechanic
just because the mil light doesn't illuminate doesn't mean that there is not recorded issue in the pcm. check it anyway with a scanner.
