Danspeed1 Posted July 25, 2010 Report Posted July 25, 2010 Hello, I am awaiting the remainder of my parts to do the 284 Swap in my 95 Monte Carlo Z34. I still need to purchase a clutch and flywheel. I am not looking for anything overkill, this is a 200hp car, it will never see the track, always have street tires, and likely rarely be raced. I don't want to go with pure junk for obvious reasons... just need a good quality OE clutch, and and flywheel and looking for something fairly cheap. What are my options? DG Quote
jtwmechanic Posted July 27, 2010 Report Posted July 27, 2010 i would never put a used clutch in my ride. salvage yard will be ok for a flywheel but have it turned and buy a new clutch kit it shouldn't cost more than $150 tops plus $25 for a flywheel and $25 to have it turned=long life. if you can not fined a used flywheel then a new one will run about $85. White93z34 Posted July 27, 2010 Report Posted July 27, 2010 I have a spec stage 2, a VERY nice clutch. With the 284 you are limited on clutch options and almost all of them are expensive. There is the ~$200 Zoom Perfection clutch, I used to run one. I hated it, poor warm gripping power. After one WOT run it would start to slip. Look on Rockauto and the like for whas out there. I know Sachs makes a good clutch. Quote
