Cylinder compression for a 3.4L

Hey, can anyone give me the cylinder compression reading for a 'healthy' 3.4L? Thanks in advance!!!:thumbsup:

normal is 100psi or more, with no more than a 30% difference between the highest and lowest cylinder.

noemal should be well over 100, like 195-200psi

 

id consider 160 to still be "ok"

that may be, but according to alldata, 100PSI is the service limit. anything less is cause for reuild/inspection.

So should I be looking for 160 out of a low mileage engine then at least for assessment purposes to make sure this is indeed a low mileage engine?

Well, it's a good indication that the rings are good, and the valves aren't burnt...always good things. As far as using a compression check to verify low mileage, that I'm not as certain about...

 

A good visual inspection, compression test, and if possible seeing it run starts you off on the right foot. Even then, occasionally you might get burned.
