SmoothSteve3
Hey everybody- Ok, since the EGR valve just recirculates exhaust gases (which have little or no explosive potential left in them) into the engine, wouldn't it be somewhat beneficial to remove the EGR valve so that the exhaust gas isn't taking up space in the combustion chamber? Has anyone ever done this on a 3.1 MPFI, and do you guys think its possible? Thanks! SmoothSteve
Robby1870
Yeah, it is somewhat beneficial to remove it, but you have to get a chip to work with no EGR Robby
92turboLE
it actually is more beneficial for the most part, especially if you have detonation issues, cuz the un0burnable gasses will actually cool the combustion chamber. - Justin
The Burning Rom
I'm not a big fan of EGR valves. None of the vehicles my dad has owned have had EGRs that were actually hooked up on them, and they ran fine. What I am thinking about doing with mine is removing the EGR tube from the X-over and sealing that off...and then putting a filter on the end of the end of the tube. It would then draw somewhat cooler air in...def. cleaner air. The computer should have no problem with that either..as it would still be moving air. 8)
