ixlar8
Yep- cracked and broken off at the wheel link!!! My manual sez to disconnect steering link and drop the frame to remove the bar. Is this really necessary?? Is there room to 'finesse' the bar out without all this work?? Plus will the upgrade 34MM bar from GMPD fit without any mods?? I just want to replace the existing bar. But $100+ seems High and the upgrade is $$ less. Thoughts??? Instructions??

White93z34
more importantly what kind of car is this? I just replaced one on a gen2 Grand prix. Its easy enough to weasel out the pass side wheel well. reinstall is tight but can be done same way. IIRC the GMPD ones come with all new brackets and bushings/endlinks. ixlar8
Broken Stabilizer bar on my 2001 Intrigue GLS. Come'on guys....some are saying I have to drop frame. some say not! Some say drop steering gear, some say not! How much room is there doing this job?? Yeah I know what the manual says, and we MUST follow GMs recs, but WHO HAS done this and which is it? Crazy K
on a gen 1 I can lower the frame 2 inches without disconnecting the steering linkage. I imagine it should be the same on a gen 2.
IRONDOG442
YOU DO NOT HAVE TO DROP THE SUBFRAME FOR A STOCK OR GMPP BAR! Pull it out the passenger side, its a real cinch. I dont know where you got the $100 figure but you are being fucked in the ass at that price. of course its better to go cheaper and superior. This includes poly bushings and poly link pins and new bolts, it's $61.00 http://gmperformancepartszone.com/heavyduty-front-stabilizer-p-6493.html?cPath=8_188_191

White93z34
what? you have to do it by "we MUST follow GMs recs" if you are asking what the book says I have no idea. If you are asking what works what I posted works I just did this recently. Easy job. put car on jackstands. disconnect end links disconnect inner brackets weasel it out pass side wheel well weasel new one in same way have a beer. GutlessSupreme
Apologies, I automatically associate 34 mm bar with 1st gens. Disregard me lol
ixlar8
Done!! It took two 2 hours. Ordered the Bar from Summit on Thursday AM, had it Friday PM. $77 shipped from Summit eBay site. I did not drop the sub frame. Lots of room in there for the 34mm bar. Sprayed PB on the bolts last night and it weaseled right out. New bushings, clamps, end links and it handles great. Thanks guys!
