jayman
so the update is i left the city i was living in due to work issues... got the cutlass running enough to make the trip. now after driving it for a month the rad hose finally blew off due to me snapping the dogbone attached to the rad support.. again i swapped this l67 from an LSS so i was forced to jimmy up a mount on top from my original 3.4 mount. now i need to know what the upper mounts should be from. ive got a good line on some good sources for parts. anyone? im sick of the engine jumping out of the car lol AND! this is my only transportation please help!!! jtwmechanic
any w-body 3800 mount will work depends on your year motor really because the early l67 used a different idler pulley set up and coil mount. the aluminum mount from a 2002 impy w/3800 will do the job that is what i used, it will work on any l67. Leadfoot
The mount snapped? Wow. Are the lowers bad? If they weren't before, I bet they are now.
jayman
haha ya the lower mount was from teh 3.4 DOHC motor, i had to create it using half the old mount and some flat stock i welded to it lol so the rubber finally let go and yep it snapped the dog bone. as well as one bolt in the head from the mount and bending the other 2 bolts holding the mount on the engine. so the update now is... I went and pulled both upper dog bones and this massive cast piece with a new belt tensioner and coil bracket from a 98 grand prix AND a new rad hose lol not too bad, 35$ for all the mounts (had to pull them in the rain) and 20$ for the hose lol BUT now.. that lower mount is still toast. as i was told before i shouldnt have cut the frame and removed that mount under the harmonic... so she goes in tommorow to have a new K-Frame, mount with hardware, axle seal, ball joint, and the oil filter housing from a 98ish SC grand prix. and for 800$ that should solve all my problems lol Except one, Im looking to buy headders or something of the sort and customize the exaust a bit from the cat back, what exaust gives us the less problems going down past the firewall? Again the motor came from an H body so i modified the flange and flex etc so i didnt have to hammer the shit out of my firewall lol Anything would be great thanks and for those guys who want to swap to an l67, follow the guides and the advice, if you dont have the proper parts like i had, DONT attempt it lol otherwise its going to cost you big $$ and PS dont listen to your buddy who knows it all lol cause he doesnt. listen to these guys:showoff:
White93z34
do yourself a favour and go to a junkyard and get the proper mounting brackets from a 98/99 3800 w-body. then everything will bolt in just as factory. you will only cause yourself headaches using H body mounting points. are you still using the H body oil filter adapter? you'll need a w-body one if you don't already have one.
