Question about a radio

Alright i am looking to put a new head unit (I THINK) in my 04 grand prix. I wanted to try to find a radio out of another grand prix with satellite radio on it so i wouldn't have to buy a separate one that you put on your dash. i have a few questions.

1) Where can i get another radio out of a grand prix with the built in satellite radio?

2) Does it cost anything to have the dealer program it to my car? if so, how much?

Also, if i were to get an aftermarket radio, say alpine, are there certain things in my car that won't work? I heard the door chime won't work and also the information center. is this true? if so is there anything i can do about it if i were to get an aftermarket radio?

My next question is about those sirius satellite radio recievers that you mount on the dash board. How do they connect to your car? do they sound good? Do they go by the reception you get on your regular radio?

All help is appreciated, thank you!

If you get an OEM radio that has satellite radio, you will still need the tuner (I'm pretty sure it is not built in) and the satellite radio specific antenna.

Ebay.

Sure, 1-2 hours worth of labor.

Get the special harness that retains the chime module.

Either by tuning to an FM radio station, or through an auxiliary input. Auxiliary input sounds worlds better, but still is not digital.

If you are going to get a dash mount receiver AND use the FM transmitter part of it to feed your stereo - try to find an older model one. The FCC changed the rules for the receivers and the newer ones barely transmit a signal 10 feet away. One of my original Sirius receivers broadcasts across our entire dealership and lot - and it is mounted in the middle of the shop. Very strong signal.
