gpchris
Am I completely crazy to think it's possible for someone to machine custom synchros for these transmissions? I heard if you remove every other tooth on the synchro it will shift like Christmas. I've noticed the 1-2 shift is a little rough at rpms over 5000. An improved synchro on this gear could inprove 282 cars quarter miles by atleast .1 or .2 which is a lot to real racers. I've heard of people just grinding off every other tooth but then that adds 50% more stress on the other teeth. What if somebody machined synchros out of something stronger than stock with every other tooth missing? Opinions?
AWeb80
pics of said part? I've always wanted to tear apart and 282 or 284 and make stronger parts....
gpchris
They look like this: Basically I'd like first and second to have every other tooth missing and third gear to have every second or third tooth missing. That way it could shift faster than a 4t6x could stock. If it could be done a 282 swap could probably drop a 1/4 by up to .5 seconds
