reddroptop
Replaced the failed alternator on my 1994 Cutlass Supreme Convertible w/ 3.4 DOHC. Purchased a NEW Duralast alternator from Auto Zone that showed proper regulated voltage for all of 10 minutes. Battery is good and I followed the instructions stating to connect the battery terminal first and then the plug in connector. Needless to say I'n not happy doing this job twice. The only plus is that this car has only 60k miles and everything came apart without incident.
cutlsp
that was the mistake buying the alternator from auto zone i think you should check in the phone book to see if any shops nearby you can rebuild the alternator for you. Or if you want to try another auto zone alternator have them test it before you leave the store. Also make sure you have your battery fully charged before you try to start it again alternators are not suppose to charge up a battery that kills them quick.
