grannatnl
I found that after storms I was getting water on several of my Cutlass Conv. in the rear section behind the back seats. At first I thought and was told it was the window seal but this was not the case. If you hang out in your car while someone soaks it or during a storm you will find that the water is not coming in from the seal but from under the window section. I removed the panel that contains the 3rd brake light and I noticed that when the channel under the panel filled with water it dumped the excess into the the car. I took clear silicone and completely sealed the base of the top. When I put the cover containing the 3rd brake light back on you could not see any of my repair. Sure enough with the next major rain storm not a drop of water came into that back section. No more fish tank! When I do it on my personal car I will post the pics. Galaxie500XL
Very useful information. My '95 does this, I think, along with leaking around the seams of the black plastic sheet behind the seat. On top of that, there's no drain for the sheet... Would love to see the pics!

I would also like to see the pix. Our 1994 has the same problem and we bought a Cool Cap, which is a cover that reflects sunlight and heat away and is waterproof. It covers the top and windows only, but will shed rain water away from the interior. Your fix is more certain.
94vertluvr
Hey what is this "Cool Cap" cost? Where did you get it? I have 2 94's and would love to see what you're talking about. Do you have a pic of this cover? Thanks! I would a lso like to see the pix. M U Tiger
Here's a link to info. about the Cool Cap: http://itscoolinhere.com/store/store_standard.html However, I notice that the price is $20.00 higher than the $49.99 I paid about a week ago. I ordered my Cool Cap through CarParts.com and the $49.99 included free shipping. The standard size Cool Cap has two straps that are secured by velcro straps around the outside mirrors and "soft hooks" that can be attached to the rear of the cover and hooked into the rear wheel well. As you can see in the photo, the fit is not perfect: the cover is slightly narrower than it should be to cover from belt line to beltline on each side of our Cutty and is longer than is needed. It's fairly easy to put on and take off. We bought it to keep the water out of the convertible but in our recent 100 degree weather, the reflective cover also keeps the graphite leather from getting too hot. DISCLAIMER: I'm not affiliated with Cool Cap or CarParts.com, just a satisfied customer.
Crazy K
well... I have been wondering why such a thing doesn't exist... but apparently it does. this is a good idea in my book.... but I agree it is not quite wide enough.... slick
Seems like a reflective tarp and some rope would do the same thing
