Nex i think i will do the full upper plenum and see how that comes out... i was thinking do the whole plenum polished then fill in around the lettering in the candy apple red.

well when you have a 3.1, and there is no point to making it faster, you do other stuff. like try to make it look as cool as the 3.4, unsuccesfully might i add.

lol j/k, that is really shiny. good job. i did that to my exhaust tips, and then i just do it whenever they get dirty. i used a grinder with a polihing wheel and some polish by macguiars(sp?)

BIG BIG bench grinder - the little once dont work, they dont have enough power. I had to use a 2hp grinder to get the results i wanted.. i suppose you could use a small one but ti would take A LOT longer.

then a lot of polishing compound and a lot of work... i had to strip off the existing paint or powdercoating - whatever it was that came from GM - and then sand it mostly smooth, then just polish, polish, and polish some more... it took many many hours of polishing... made quite the mess in the garage doing too, although i could do it faster cuz this was my first time with a wheel polisher like that and i had no clue what i was doing.

i think i may start offering polished plenums on my site in different styles... fully polished (like in the pics) or partially polished (just the top flat part) and in various painted colors too.

i dunno yet, it is kinda labor intensive and i would have to do a Core thing too so that i dont run out of extras.

will have pics of the fully polished plenum when i get it finished.

looks pretty good, I've got an extra plenum and set of valve covers that I plan to polish for a later undecided project, I'll take pictures when I do polish them, I have all the materials here to do so, just been busy or either too lazy to mess with them.

NOPE, wire wheel = BAD

i used a buffing wheel. to strip the old paint off from GM, i used a 2 inch stripping disc and then just got violent with the buffer. I discovered that if you dont hold onto ot well enough, it will promptly eject itself from your hands to the other side of the garage - lol

I'll take pics of the setup when i get home, and some pics of the plenum as im polishing it so you can see the different steps.
