jamhoney
Can somebody let me know if this is an abnormal amount of wear for a supercharger with 10000 miles on it?

mfewtrail
if that is oil on it(kinda looks like that, or hopefully it's just a mixture of dirt and water), then the housing could possibly be cracked although I would really doubt that, I haven't heard of any cases where the sc housing cracked, smell of that residue on the supercharger when it's cold and see if you can smell anything..you'll definitely be able to determine whether it's supercharger oil or not, I believe the sc oil is like gear/differential oil and contains sulphur which gives it that rancid smell. Give that engine bay a good cleaning and then keep a check on the supercharger, if you're mechanically inclined(or not..doesn't take much), remove the fill nut on the supercharger and check to see if the oil is low, the previous GTP's/L67's M90 supercharger holds 8oz of supercharger oil and most have found it to be low from the factory(yours is still an M90 as far as I know but more efficient/slighty different design, I'm pretty certain it holds the same amount, but consult the 04 owners manual to make certain), it's also recommended to change the sc oil well before GM will ever think about changing it(my dealership told me "we never change it" to begin with and then when I asked someone else they said 100K, mine was pretty dark when I changed it at 35K, I dont' take my car in for service from the shitty dealer as you would imagine, I do most repair work myself unless it cost more than my deductible since my car is under warranty, I plan to change mine every 35K or so from now on)
