I am changing my transmission fluid before Dayton, and when I pulled the pan, I found something akin to what Chris found in the trans pan of his TGP before it got wrecked.

Here is the full sized picture of it:

Now, I never got to read if anybody knew what this little plastic part was that Chris found in his pan. I am not having any transmission problems that I know of, other than it sometimes going into gear a little hard, and if I manually downshift with my foot off the gas, it clunk into the lower gear pretty hard. And the funny thing is, under normal driving, this transmission is butter smooth.

What is this piece? It's white plastic, not very brittle, and is kind of worn on one side, like it's rubs something else.

No symptoms, other than the ones described above.

Should I not worry about it, or should I start looking around for a spare transmission to keep around the house?

Can't see the picture from work, but I'm going to gather that if its all running fine, you should be ok.

Guess who's selling his transmission soon...

Ok, what does a thrust washer do? Also, will it cause my transmission to grenade itself?

I ran my tranny for almost 100k after I found pieces of the thrust washer in the pan. YMMV

isn't there a chain in these tranny's? could it be part of a guide/tensioner?

LOL ok then. I take it that I'll be ok for the time being. The magnet has a little bit of stuff on it, but is pretty clean for the most part.

I'm gonna button it back up, and call it a day.

How wrong I was. I thought that the magnet had ridges on the top of it. Those ridges were actually crap caked to the magnet.
