GPdriver1986
I was looking for my oil leak today, I took a flashlight and I approached the alternator. I looked down below and I saw wet oil and alot of sludge around right below the alternator around the axle. But right above the axle I saw something new, It seems to be an electronic thing because it has a connector attached to it and it is held by two bolts, I took a rag and I wiped off the oil sludge and it says on it, 20D 440 and it right below the alternator and near the power steering lines. I believe my oil is leaking from here but I could be wrong. Could someone please tell what this thing is?
GPdriver1986
I was looking at v6z24 and the closest thing I could find that looked like it was the VSS (speed sensor) but I don't think it could be leaking oil from there. I was also reaching on the back of the engine below the alternator and below the exhaust manifold and I could the knock sensor and alot of sludge so I pulled my hand out and I had wet fresh oil on my hand from touching around the threads of the knock sensor. Any comments?
Robby1870
I think that prolly was the VSS, but your valve cover gasket might be leaking..... Robby
GPdriver1986
Yeah I figured it out it was the VSS but I thought the VSS would closer to the tranny, I didn't expect it to be near the alternator by the drive shaft. I wiped away most of the grime even though I can't really see. By the way I know my rocker cover is not leaking because I changed my spark plugs about 2 months (oil leak was still present) and I didn't see any fresh oil near there.
