GP1138
So.. Hit a snag because of my own dumbassery. I thought it was a clogged coolant passage. It was not. Why is this open in the first place, and where does it go? Can I use RTV or JB Weld to seal it or should I just get a new LIM? 3800SII LIM - passenger side near bolt hole. Q-Ball
I'd get a new one, well a used one from a junk yard. I'm sure it would be a cheap part.
BXX
Holy fuck thats one corroded intake. Definately get another. Dont mess with that one. looks like the P.O. didnt maintain the cooling system one bit. I love Dexcool, but I believe it needs a 2-3 year 24-36K maintenance. Some coolant test dip strips even show that Dexcool gets a little acidic after 50-60K OE.
BXX
I can easily last longer, and it does warm up quicker and maintain better heat (my opinion, I have no factual based info to back it up) Plus is have better lubrication properties (water pumps need coolant for lube) and Dex doesnt smell bad like normal coolant, even when burning. GP1138
Hey, I didn't realize the thread was called "Why is Dexcool good?". I just wanted to know where that port goes? Is it a provision for the supercharger?

Crazy K
Hey, I didn't realize the thread was called "Why is Dexcool good?". I just wanted to know where that port goes? Is it a provision for the supercharger? can't tell from here, but if you recall the heads are made symmetrical, so they can be used front and rear, as on the 3x00. the coolant passages on the 3x00 towards the belt side of the engine are blocked off in the same manner. That thing might as well have cock rot. Replace it.
GP1138
Already on the way to that. Dinunzio's bringing me a LIM in June. I'll probably replace it the next weekend. For now, my ghetto fix will hold just fine.
