GhrarhG
Has anyone had to replace the rubber gasket on the back side of the oil cooler? I know this pretty much applies to LQ1 and TGP people. I have an oil cooler off a TGP on my car, and the gasket is shot and leaking oil like crazy. I was thinking about bringing the old one with me to the store and picking through filters until I found one that matched. I figured I'd see if there was an easy direct replacement that I could buy instead. I'll try to get a pic of this tonight to explain better. Thanks, Jon
White93z34
I am pretty sure it is FEL-PRO Part # 70672 its about 99 cents.
GhrarhG
That's the gasket that goes between the sending unit adapter and the block. I need the gasket for between the oil cooler and the adapter, looks just like an oil filter gasket but slightly smaller.

ss427
My GM dealer couldn't get this anywhere, and auto part stores couldn't find it. Reused my original.. That's cool if it is made afterall!
94GPGTP
It is made. It's in all conversion gasket sets. Idk if it's sold seperatly. If anythin go rip off a o ring off a oil filter that's the same diameter. Or like I did fill the void with permatex and make a mountain for when it crushes it seals up. I haven't had a problem so far.
GhrarhG
Rock auto only lists a Delco P/N: 24504005 I didn't have much luck with the corteco number. What store stocks their gaskets?
GutlessSupreme
It is made. It's in all conversion gasket sets. What is a "conversion gasket set?" I bought most of the full sets of fel pro gaskets when I resealed the TSTE motor and I never saw this gasket. Ended up having to make my own with gasket stock bonded into a ring shape. GhrarhG
Ok, no luck on the GM part number. Went to advance and found the closest filter gasket possible: Then I had to trim the OD to fit the oil cooler using my high tech trimming device...A nail, 2x4, and a razor blade. It would have been better to trim the ID, but it fit no problem. Leaving this: and this: I called the dealer this morning, and they informed me that the gasket was discontinued with the P/N I listed above. They said that there was a possibility of getting one from some antique parts something or other for $35. This cost about $5, and took less than 10 minutes to do. Figured I'd post a solution if anyone else runs into this. Good Luck, Jon Edited May 22, 2010 by GhrarhG
