Throttle body upgrade?

52mm was the stock size.

Any performance site for the 3100 including N-, J-, and W-Bodies will have bigger diameters.

So these would bolt right on with no problems? Thanks

I don't see it as a problem, since GM loves interchangability.

But, there may be a question of bolt-up if you change Generations of engine / intakes.

Check will Robby, Vegeta or anyone who's done a TB update.

Yeah, you would have to get one for a 3100. The 3.1L TB is different than the 3100, yet the same size. I know of a place that makes 62mm TBs for a 3.1L, but I dont know any for 3100, but any N-body site or something like that prolly has them

Problem with TGP applications is that the inlet on FDP's throttle body is round. The end of the IC to TB pipe on the TGP is oval shaped, and made of steel. So it's not like the pipe will be able to "form" itself to the round TB

I am going to either machine an oval inlet for the one I'm getting...or chop up a stocker and modify the oval inlet for the FDP TB. The good thing about the FDP TB is that the inlet is just screwed on. You can remove it and put whatever you want on there. :D

BTW, I already talked with Franz at FDP about this issue.

If they didnt put a bigger throttle plate in it then there not really increasing air flow mass by much, maybe just speeding up the flow a tiny bit. I like the idea of the machined 62mm throttle body better. I wonder if the machined one still has the ports for the coolant lines?

It doesn't have the coolant line fittings. It says that in their description....and I don't see any fittings in the picture  You don't need those anyway...unless of course you drive your car a lot in VERY cold temps.
