I was just thinking...who needs a cat these days anyway?

if i were you....

i'd carry spares at all times in the trunk, along with a barebones toolkit with everything necessary to change them.

LOL

That would be hilarious.

that's the spirit!

i run without the COT on the GP and MC, but it could also be thought of as a combustion chamber/piston protection mode... well, as long as it dumps fuel, could get rid of the advanced timing for more protection. just set it for a higher temperature threshold for it to activate.

My car started setting a catalyst efficiency code last week. I took out the downstream o2 sensor (still plugged in) and stuffed it up in the heatshield. The car passes the catalyst monitor everytime now; no more check engine light!

That brings up a funn thing. I did m OBD2 swap, but didnt add the downstream O2 sensor. I have no codes for it and when the car is running the DS O2 voltage is always .482v... So the PCM always thinks it has a good cat on it

don't suppose you jumpered the wire to a ground or something? i know with the OBD1 PCMs, the computer will push out .45V until it gets up to temp and will start swinging on it's own to start reading the AFR... maybe the OBD2 PCM contanstly pushes the .482V and expects the O2 to react?
