mediabandit
No. well in the winter it is, but the car has never seen snow since new. Always kept in a heated garage as well. I only drive it during the summer.
alec_b
123k on my old-school 440T4. I have to say this thing shifts WAY better than the 4T60-e mated to the 3100 my GP had. I don't know what it is, maybe it's got to do with the fact that shift points are controlled by the TV cable instead of the PCM, but I much prefer the way the 440 drives and responds to inputs. It seems like the 440's shifts feel better also, both at part and WOT. Just my thoughts, comparing a 120k original 440T4 and a 100k mile 4T60-e, both well maintained. RobertISaar
i've dealt with the GP's 4T60 and the MC's 4T60E...... good god, the MC wins. the 4T60 likes to change it's shift points on me randomly, even with the TV cable being perfectly in adjustment! then it likes to do a 3-2 downshift with no throttle at about 10MPH...... kaBANG. then the 2-1 shift happens a second after, light as hell. then the TCC locking in 3rd, having to get up to 51MPH and drop almost all throttle for it to shift into 4th... no thanks. i like me my shift solenoids. Sounds like you're having issues with the 4T60 to me, as mine doesn't exhibit any of those symptoms. I like the 3rd gear lockup, it's really nice around town. Yes, I'll admit the 4th gear shift is soft, but mine will usually shift 1-2-3-lock tcc-4th. The only time is shifts into 4th before it locks is under heavy throttle. The downshifts in mine are much better than the GP's were too, a lot more crisp and I don't have to crank 3/4 throttle for the thing to downshift. Maybe it's got something to do with having a 3800 behind it instead of a 3100, who knows. All I know is I wouldn't trade back to the 4T60-e now. I will say though I think I have a rare bird for a 4T60, because the last one I had ('87 bonneville 3.8) shifted like total crap, no matter how much I tinkered with modulator settings or TV cable settings. I guess I just landed on a good one this time.
