GRANDFURY
I was just wondering if the Idle reset is the same thing as reseting the computer I think it is but it has been a long night.
gmrulz4u
Well "reseting the computer" is just disconnecting the battery. So YES, diconnecting the battery is the FIRST step in performing an Idle Re-Learn... So I'm taking that your answer to my offer of helping you with your car, because we're in the same city, is no? Yes and no. Pulling the power to the ECM gets you back to factory specs. Some cars will need the idle re-set procedure and some don't do to killing the power. However after reading up, you can do the idle re-learn without pulling to the ECM. At the same time, I have reason to believe the ECM "learns" a certain driving style from each owner. Before I worked on my Cutlass myself, it seemed sluggish until I did a starter and it ran 'better' once it 'learned' how I drive. It's weird to think so, but I'm a firm believer; even my parents think so. - Erik
