Heater Core Pipe Question

Ok, as we all know, the heater core pipe on the LQ1 was a piece of shit.

Mine finally rusted through and I cut the piece of the pipe out and put a piece of rubber hose in and slabbed the hell outta the ends with RTV. Still leaks.............

Went on AZ, Napa, Advance sites and found the replacement on Napa's site . Application says for the 3.1..... Looks just like what I have though.

Will it work??? I'll just print a picture off for now and look at it when I get to work on it today.

If so, and I bought it, what would be the best way to keep this from rusting out?? Could I spray some underbody coating on it and keep the moisture off the outter metal?

I had no idea that they even made new ones. Picture of it?

I would just spray it with a good rust preventive paint like rustoliem. not too much we can do in northern climates about it.

Yeah I've got a nos heater core pipe, invaluable in the rust belt

I have my pick of about 50-100 of those pipes rust free any time I visit the pull-a-part yards here.:P

I didn't know anyone carried a new version of those either...

I just got the old 6' length of heater hose and replaced the leaky one. Looks factory enough and was only $6 or something like that. Replaced it a few minutes after buying it.
