jimmyfloyd Posted April 16, 2010 Report Posted April 16, 2010 So, I was wondering how rare the 1st gen Grand Prix Pepsi Edition was? What made it special and how rare are they? Are they worth anything? I think I saw one the other day and hadn't heard of it before. Quote
jimmyfloyd Posted April 16, 2010 Author Report Posted April 16, 2010 Found this info from an article online: Pepsi-Cola trying to liven up image Chicago Sun-Times | January 16, 1989 | Nancy Millman | Pepsi-Cola is rolling out a promotional barrage in support of both its sugared and diet Pepsi products, trying to create some sales excitement in the traditionally dull first quarter. Trying to grab the attention of the young adult market, Pepsi is hooking up with the Pontiac division of General Motors for a national promotion that will give away more than 100 Grand Prix SEs in a sweepstakes. And in a setup much like an instant-winner lottery, Pepsi buyers who find their license plate numbers on in-store displays will win one of the cars on the spot. .... and a couple ads: Quote
Z34guy Posted April 16, 2010 Report Posted April 16, 2010 (edited) That's kinda cool.... I want one now  EDIT: My sister says she remembers the contest and trying to win. Edited April 16, 2010 by Z34guy Quote
Biohazed Posted April 16, 2010 Report Posted April 16, 2010 well I would have to assume that being a contest car it has to be really rare Quote
jeremy Posted April 16, 2010 Report Posted April 16, 2010 I immediately thought of mra32 x2 .....that being said, I have seen a couple of these cars over the years....they really aren't anything special, just another decal package Quote
jimmyfloyd Posted April 17, 2010 Author Report Posted April 17, 2010 just wondering cause there was one in the junkyard here. I got tipped off by the Pepsi floor mats: And found that the switches had different colors: And I am not sure if the cluster was different: And I think the interior was grey and blue colored: Ans since i know you guys love VIN numbers, I got a blurry picture of it: Quote
jeremy Posted April 17, 2010 Report Posted April 17, 2010 those switches look just like the ones in my old '89 Quote

jeremy Posted April 17, 2010 Report Posted April 17, 2010 maybe I am looking at a different picture then you..... the pic I see shows stock '89 switches, orange for the fogs and blue is the windshield washer Quote
Addicted2bass Posted April 17, 2010 Report Posted April 17, 2010 maybe I am looking at a different picture then you..... the pic I see shows stock '89 switches, orange for the fogs and blue is the windshield washer Yup those are the same switches my 89 has. Nothing special there. I would have grabbed the floormats though just for the hell of it. I cant believe that car even has the original floormats considering how beat down the rest of the car is.
