Using Bar's Leak to temp. fix LIM leak?

So my LIM gasket is leaking and caused the car to overheat. This seems like a good excuse to go to the junkyard and put a 3400 in place of the 3100. Question is, can I use Bar's Leak to temporarily fix the LIM gasket leak until I can get the motor pulled? Will this stuff clog up my heater core?

That stuff will clog up everything, from coolant passages to heater cores to radiators. Don't use a fix in a bottle, just fix it right.

Bars stop leak is probably the most significant contributing factor to the reason why the general public thinks the Jaguar XJS's are unreliable, and the reason why I have a scar above my left eyebrow from a gash I gave myself trying to get a cylinder head off with studs completely corroded and siezed with bars stop leak. Do not mess with that shit.

Let me put it this way...using Bar's Stop Leak is like playing Russian roulette with a Semi-Automatic.

I used bars leak on a old civic once. only thing it did was make the radiator water tight.

Great advice. Although I disagree on the XJ-S; lots of electrical gremlins in those cars, caused by, in some cases, use of dissimilar metals and corrosion. One problem from the factory in them was that the grounds were improperly installed. Neat cars though. I have an E-type (1971), which is always a load of fun. Hehe.

Good God, another person with a Jaguar on here!!!!!!!!

You should check out my Jaguar project thread in the other cars section if you haven't already. I went through hell and back with that car, and I'm about to do it again in a month or so. :D

Can't say I've heard or read of too many gremlins with the XJS. At least Kirby Palm hasn't mentioned too many of them in his 700+ page xjs-help (experience in a book) e-book. Fortunately mine was a California car, so rust and corrosion was kept to a minimum. Do you have any pictures of your e-type? Those cars are beautiful.

I have to agree, there is NO fix in a bottle!

I know not to use that stuff, and I decided to try it anyway when I was in a jamb 200 miles away. It SLOWED the problem till I got home, and then I had to replace... everything. Just fix the problem... the correct way.
