yackel
I got a 96 Grand Prix GTP with the 3.4L DOHC and auto trans. About 6 months ago I stopped at the atm and shut the car off and it has made no attempt to start since then, will not click or anything. I got my volt meter out and it shows voltage off the key switch when its in the start position but does not show any at the starter on the smaller wire on the solenoid everything else works but there before it quit runnin every now and then when I would hit the key I would have to Hold it for a few second for it to start turning over and the windows would quit working at random. I tried jumping across the solenoid from the hot side to the trip wire but the starter just clicks. So at this point im out of ideas if anybody has any suggestions it would be greatly appreciated. 94GPGTP
check to make sure the aux. post nut is tight as well..... Ill back that up.. Very common problem with corrosion on that post and you cant see it.. I put a new starter and alternator and battery in my car in result of the same problem after all replaced and went to check connections and after cleaning each one and testing it afterwards the AUX terminal was loose/corroded.. This was in my 95 GTP.. Ill buy the car if it has a sunroof and leather..
yackel
Ok Ill try that and see where it gets me, i just don't understand why I can have voltage at the switch but not at the solenoid on the starter with a bad connection in the main battery wires, I would get it if the solenoid clicked but it don't. Ill try it tho. I kind of like this car but I think I have had it for 2 yrs now and I think i may have put 2 or 3 thousand miles on it because its always broke down and I get mad at it and let it sit it and drive my blazer until that piece breaks down, but it should be a new car by the time I'm done messing with it tho. 94gpgtp It doesn't have leather or a sunroof, kind of a plain car for a gtp. White93z34
just because the battery has 12v does not mean it has the CCAs to turn the car over.
Addicted to eaton
As i was saying. Batteries have cells. Cells go bad. Unlike humans, batteries do not make more cells lol.
