spiderw31 Posted April 10, 2010 Report Posted April 10, 2010 The strip that slides as you shift on my GP is damaged and I want to remove it to try and repair it, so I tried to pull the top of the console off today. I pulled the cubby, and got to the bolts behind the ash tray, and the back half of the console came free. The front side surrounding the DIC moves, but wont come off. I looked for any screws / bolts holding it together but I can't find any. Also did a search here with no findings. I don't want to tug too hard on 18 year old plastic and break it. What am I missing? GutlessSupreme Posted April 12, 2010 Report Posted April 12, 2010 Pretty sure there's 4 metal spring clips that hold the front into slots on the DIC. 2 top and 2 bottom. Just yank it. Quote
spiderw31 Posted April 12, 2010 Author Report Posted April 12, 2010 I yanked pretty hard but OK, I'll take your word for it. Not high on my list now though, since it appears that the water pump is leaking now It's always something with this car!!! Quote
5speedz34 Posted April 15, 2010 Report Posted April 15, 2010 Waterpump replacement on almost any 60* is super easy. As for the console, Gutless is right. I will worn you though, those sliders are fucked up on pretty much every car I've seen. Quote
