White93z34
Holy hell. From 7 pages to a mere 2. Amazing! I was torn between locking this thread or cleaning it up, sorry if a relevant post or 2 got lost on the crossfire... but oh well. Word to the wise, guys. If you have a issue with a poster use the Ignore user feature, its really simple and awesome. I can deal with some bantering in the offtopic sections but I will not tolerate it in the tech sections. So now that I spent a cool 15 minutes cleaning up this thread it will stay on track, and whomever takes it back to where it was will get a vacation, no warning. Also anyone who participates will get a vacation too, no warnings. Don't think you are exempt.
gorybella4
I don't mean to be a dick honestly, its just my intranets nature. Ryan Bosquet will tell you (RZB1993) I am glad to help anyone who owns a 1964-1972 cutlass 442 or w-30 a 1988-1997 cutlass or a 1998-2002 Intrigue out as much as I can. I know them all I also know 1995-1999 Auroras 2001-2003 Auroras 1999-2004 Aleros and 2002-2004 Bravadas. Those vehicles are my specialty. Well, as long as you won't be a jerk, I'll be glad to ask you questions concerning my vehicle. We're bringing her home tomorrow night *fingers crossed*, after getting temporary plates, because for SOME reason the guy thought it would be a BRILLIANT idea to take the plates off and then LOSE them! Don't get me wrong, he's a wonderful guy, and took good care of the car and all, but when you're selling a car you think you'd keep the goddamn plates around long enough for the thing to be driven off by its new owner! Small sacrifice in the grand scheme of things. And I think we all can agree that regardless of my engine's problems, it's the part of the car that's going to be around when everything else is just dust. Addicted to eaton
around here thats a federal offence. Plates stay with the owner. I was also told be the Very nice state trooper that they dont take kindly to that and can charge me with identity theft.

I was also told be the Very nice state trooper that they dont take kindly to that and can charge me with identity theft. Did not know that. Thanks for the 411. As I said, in the grand scheme of things, it's a small sacrifice. Now, here's a question that I just remembered to ask. I know it probably says this in the owner's manual, but does the car right now require regular gas, or will it only need premium once Tom starts putzing around and installing the supercharger? tornado_735
It just needs regular 87 octane right now. If Tommy installs a SC, then it'll need premium.

Ah, that's what I figured, just needed verification. Now, the guy claimed that it gets roughly 33 mpg, is it probably going to be about that still, or should I expect less due to the fact it's been sedentary for about a year? IRONDOG442
The L36 to L67 swap should not be taken lightly. This is no easy task on an Intrigue the data bus of the cluster is totally different than that of an Grand prix so either youll have to fabricate a GP cluster in the Olds or you will be using a GPS for speedo and gages. Yeah... if I can't help you at all - being in Ct and all, then Rob is your guy. I've asked him probably a million and one questions about repairs to my Intrigues, and probably made him spend more time helping me on the phone than he thought he would, but he was always willing to help. If it wasn't for Rob and the guys/girls on the forum, working on intrigues would be a lot more difficult!

You should easily be in the mid 20's for daily use. In the summer, I never get lower than 28 MPG in the regal in all around driving. That works out to about 23.5 MPG in US gallons. This is generally to and from work in rushour, with the AC on.
RZB1992
Looking back to the earlier posts and looking at the link, that cloth was a somewhat special option... The car is a GL trim line. The GX base model had a cheaper cloth, and the GL's and GLS' mostly came with leather, but the few GL's that came with cloth had a velour like cloth - much softer. Hope everything went well tonight with the pickup. Edited April 13, 2010 by RZB1992

Sadly, we needed the bill of sale and title first, so we're picking it up tomorrow. I'm so antsy! I have the keys though! Two of the remote starters have dead batteries though...grrr! Could I just go to Radio Shack to get the batteries?
tornado_735
Radio Shack, Wal-Mart, just about any grocery store really...
WhatTheFehl
Radio shack, K-Mart, Wal-Mart, or even a good auto parts store should stock the batteries. Most of those starter remotes use what look like large watch batteries, or a AAA kind of battery that looks like it was cut in half, or some combination of the two. When I slipped on ice while holding my keys and landed on the ground, breaking open my remote starter and losing one of the batteries, I bought a new one at K-Mart. Z34guy
Congratulations Ari on purchasing your first car. You're ahead of me cuz I didn't pay a penny for my car. lol. I am looking to buy a second one though. LQ1 repairs are ridiculously long.

Z34guy
First gen GP with a 3100! Or look into a nice J-body. Actually, I know what I want. Problem is finding it cuz I'm so picky. I'm looking for a 1995 Buick Regal 3.8 coupe. Just a pain in the ass to find one. Reason: I want the 3800 series 1, and I want the redesigned interior. Preferably in black. tornado_735
Keep away from J-bodies...no offense Mike. Horrible little cars IMHO. The older Skyhawk might be a different animal, but my first J will most likely be my last.

Its in fantastic shape and hasn't been any trouble so far. I think the bad J-bodies were the 95 - 2000 ones. Once they got the Ecotec (2002 I think?) they really were great little cars. At least thats my opinion.
Night Fury
My Dads 02 Cavi has also been VERY problem free, save for window regulators or whatever. Has close to 170,000 miles. The 06 monte carlo has been a fucking shitpile in comparison, and it hasn't even been terrible

Z34guy
I try to stay away from J-bodies anyways because most have really poor safety ratings.

There are several differant of the watch style ones. If its a 23A i would suggest going to a shop that does remote starters to get batterys. Usually ones from a wal-mart or k-mart have been sitting on the shelf a long time and are bad right out of the package.

Also, here's something I thought of today. If, for some random reason, someone wanted to reverse a top swap, is it at all possible?
