WhatTheFehl
First of all... does your state have emissions testing? Because if you do a manual override for your cooling fans it WILL NOT pass emissions...

WhatTheFehl
If you leave the switch on, the fans will run constantly and the vehicle most likely will never get up to operating temperature for the emissions testing. That is a fail right there. If you leave the switch off, the fans won't run, causing your car to overheat. Either way it will fail emissions. At least that's the way I understand it. The inspection mechanic isn't going to sit there and flip cooling fan switches for you.
gpchris
Actually you have it wrong. The fans operate normally when the switch is off. The switch just allows you to override the pcm and turn the fans on at any temperature.
