99screaminregal Posted March 27, 2010 Report Posted March 27, 2010 Ok, took Rocket in to get an alignment the other day and the shop said they couldn't do it due to some missing parts in the rear suspension. The tech showed me where but couldn't tell me the name of the part, just said there should be a block here and here and that they were for ride height. I replaced all 4 struts b4 winter and never got it in the shop after. Never seen them and didn't know the difference because the old struts were shot. I thought it was because the KYBs I purch. had the adjustable holes. Here's what I'm looking for. Quote
jake91 Posted March 27, 2010 Report Posted March 27, 2010 oh yeah i know what part that is but i cant think of what it is called its a bushing of some sort i can take a pic it you want Quote
1990lumina Posted March 27, 2010 Report Posted March 27, 2010 Probably the rubber pad for the rear monoleaf. Go get some new ones from Napa. They don't do shit for ride (adding those Napa pucks) height but you need something there to protect the ends of the monoleaf. Quote
Crazy K Posted March 27, 2010 Report Posted March 27, 2010 What engine do you have? Do you have a rear swaybar? Is the one on the opposite side missing or present? They basically are a light duty rubber spring to stiffen the suspension, and many cars come without them, BUT... those cars have a rear swaybar instead. Some sportier models came with both. I suggest removing the remnants and going back. Probably the rubber pad for the rear monoleaf. Go get some new ones from Napa. 1990lumina Posted March 27, 2010 Report Posted March 27, 2010 Oh we're talking about those "helper" springs? Quote
99screaminregal Posted March 27, 2010 Author Report Posted March 27, 2010 That's not it. I know what you're talking about though. Those are still there. These go on the outside, in the bracket with the posts. I'll upload the photo to my computer and circle what I need. I believe I've seen them on other cars. They kinda look like an 8 to recall. Take your picture Jake and I'll circle it. Thanks guys! Quote

Thanks guys! they are "auxilary helper springs". only totally base cars without swaybar had them. or higher end sporty cars they GM decided needed more stiffening than the swaybar could offer... Hairdo12 Posted March 30, 2010 Report Posted March 30, 2010 Don't waste your money getting the rear aligned if its a 92. There really isn't anything to align. I work on my rear suspension all the time and never had it aligned. My tires usually dry rot before they wear out. Quote

Kinda hard to overlook the rear camber when you look at the tires from the rear and see a V shape. Camber is way, way out. Quote
