jaustinbell
The engine in my sister's 1996 Grand Prix (3100) started running rough a few miles after I put the new intake manifold gaskets in and threw 4 check engine light codes: two were for a MAP sensor, one was for TPS sensor A, and one was for EGR pin-something. These things are all plugged in... I will say that only half of the air cleaner bolts were tightened and the coolant was low, though I doubt any of that matters. I tightened up a couple external coolant leaks tonight but haven't reset the codes or driven the car. Any guesses as to why this all went on? Galaxie500XL
Check your vacuum hoses. Frequently, when you start tearing the top end down on an older car, you can accidently break loose or crack some of the old vacuum hose; I'd suspect that may be the cause of your rough running, and MAP sensor codes. I'm not as sure of the others, do you have any additional information?
jaustinbell
What I'm really hoping for is that I didn't somehow manage to screw up the mounting of the manifold itself; I feel like I may have screwed up the RTV on the transaxle side. I also feel like I could have a vacuum leak around the fuel injectors--I have a bad streak with fuel rail installation precision... I guess I'm going to have to spray water around places where I suspect a vacuum leak and look for bubbles, as well as check hoses. It's my younger sister's car and it's at my parents' house right now; I'm going Friday to spend the weekend there finishing the car up. I will be able to look at it more then and hopefully resolve things. All the electrical connections looked good. There was 1 plug that I never found where to plug in, it's got kinda bright red and blue plastic at the connector and I feel like it may have been unplugged when I started taking things apart. Hopefully I will have time to get under the hood Friday and get down to the root of the problems. When I last was working on the car about a week ago I was hastily trying to put it together and get out of town, so for the time being I don't know much past the check engine codes I read on my way out. AL
Get a picture of the plug because an unplugged sensor will throw a check engine light
