douellette
alright the 96 monte seems to be throwing a misfire code. i looked at the live data on it with my scan tool. at idle the TP sensor reads .3% and if i put it on my cutlass it reads 0%. also, the upstream o2 sensor doesnt seem to changing back and forth like its supposed to, its pretty much just staying around .07-.1 volts, meanwhile my cutlass acts normal .2ish volts to about .7 volts. does it sound like both of them are bad?? or one? responses asap would be great! RobertISaar
.07-.01??? that's lean as fuck. and the TPS: i wouldn't worry about that too much. if it really bothers you, roll the key forward, disconnect the TPS plug, wait a few seconds and plug it back in. if it goes to 0, then it was just out of calibration in the PCM. BXX
You need to figure out whats causing the misfire Ignore your O2 data right now, misfires throw those readings way off.. What exact code (i.e. the P03xx number) are you getting.

What exact code (i.e. the P03xx number) are you getting. its just giving me the p0300 code. i cleaned the throttle body with brake cleaner while i had it off the engine and left the sensors in it, could that have damaged it? And i also left the fuel injectors in the lower intake when i cleaned that (using simple green automotive degreaser and water), could that have somehow damaged the injectors? thats the only things i can think of that would be causing it. BXX
Odds are, its common to have a vacuum leak and that will cause a lean mixture and misfire!! A dirty or fucked MAF can do it as well, but vacuum leak is more common

Why would you use brake cleaner on a MAF? I would get some MAF cleaner and very gently wipe the MAF with some q-tips.

alec_b
Sounds like a vacuum leak to me, but to cause a misfire it'd have to be big enough to hear it. Listen very carefully under the hood, see if you can hear any sign of hissing or vacuum, once you think you have the general area use brake clean around the area and listen for changes in rpm. When the motor revs up, you found your leak.
