Galaxie500XL
I've taken my dash apart to put in the new factory stereo with CD in my '95 Cutlass Supreme. While I've got things apart, thought I'd tackle the burned out lights in the Electronic Climate Control. Found the right bulbs at Radio Shack, but now have a question. The ECC is in pieces on my desk, and I need to drive to Radio Shack to get the bulbs...will it hurt anything to drive the car with the Electronic Climate control out of the car? I'm pretty sure it's OK, but wanted to make sure...don't want to break anything else!
White93z34
You should be just fine. Your fan may run on one of the lower settings I believe my Lumina does that without the climate control hooked up.
Galaxie500XL
Thanks...I thought it would probably be OK...but after the trouble I've gone through getting the car running again, I didn't want to take any chances... I found a NOS factory CD/Cassette stereo for the car online, and thought while I had the dash apart, I might as well fix those stupid burned out lights in the ECC...stuff like that bugs me. You should be just fine. Your fan may run on one of the lower settings I believe my Lumina does that without the climate control hooked up. Jonpro03
stuff like that bugs me. X2... I just lost a bulb behind the tach in the 96. Its still dimly lit, but that wont work for me.
Galaxie500XL
The bulb fix was successful...they're not exact replacements, but close enough to work.. Radio Shack #272-1154 for the large bulbs, 272-1092 for the tiny bulbs that light the individual buttons on the unit. I deliberately left the leads long, so that they come close to sticking out the same amount as the originals, which had a plastic base.
