spiderw31
I'm in the process of redoing the the LIM gaskets on my GP and I need to disconnect the fuel lines from the fuel rail. Advance apparently sells two tools for this, one that does sizes A-D, and another that does sizes E-F. Which is the right one for the LQ1? White93z34
I totally forget which one it is. and I don't have my toolbox with me right now or I'd go check. however, in the past I've always just turned the fuel rail upside down and set it out of the way. That's what I've done as well. Just set them on the windshield out of the way of everything else. That is, until I wanted to replace the fuel rail with what appeared to be a brand new one at a junkyard.
spiderw31
So I got both the lines undone, and one is 3/8" while the other looks to be maybe 7/16". The pack of disconnect tools I got had a several sizes, and the 3/8" tool easily removed one line, but the other required a bit of tugging and some persuasion. My plan was to disconnect the rail so that I could replace the O rings while I was in there. What I found though is that neither line seems to have an O ring at all, not in the hard line or in the coupling. Is this normal?
1990lumina
I think the coupling should have the O rings in it. They might be hard to see. If there is nothing there you'll definately have a leak - plastic + plastic doesn't seal well.
spiderw31
Well, it looks like a metal surface inside the connector, but the same principle applies. I'll look again this morning since the light will be better, but it really looks like there are no O rings in there.

I have 213k on my car and my lines don't leak. There is absolutely no reason to disconnect the that fuel coupler unless you intend on replacing the fuel rail. You're just asking for trouble at that point. But since you had to do it, Rockauto.com sells a fuel rail o-ring kit. spiderw31
Thanks for all the help, I did finally see the O rings in the better light this morning. Those suckers are buried inthere good! Not to mention they look fine, so I'm not gonna bother replacing them. I figured if it was simple and easy I might as well, but I also don't see the point in replacing them if they look fine. I'll just fix the LIM, and get her back on the road.
