Galaxie500XL
'96-up are interference, according to what I've read in the past, '95 and earlier are not. However, if you're pushing it over 6 grand, and the belt lets go, anything is possible....I think there is someone here on the list who had a bent valve due to carbon deposits in the cylinder. alright well this is the last thing hes said so far: " well were getting it look at most likely this weekend and if we get it fixed then its going back up to 2 g... and i have other buys that wanna buy the car so if u really want it u were the first person interested so ill let you buy it but if you dont want it im going to sell it its just sitting in my drive way takeing up space its not the timeing belt" Probably means it is the timing belt... i always thought this was an interference engine? its not? My 95 GTP sent a valve through a piston due to the belt snapping.

Galaxie500XL
They changed quite a few things on the '96 and up LQ1's. The plenum is different, the cams are different, even the exhaust ports in the heads are different. '96-up are interference, according to what I've read in the past, '95 and earlier are not. Galaxie500XL
Thanks for the update. I'm still suspicious that he may have been hoping for free troubleshooting service, and would have either jacked up the price, or suddenly "changed his mind" once the car was fixed. I can't prove that, I'm usually NOT the suspicious type, but something about this sounds all wrong.
