4spdz34
anyone here run type F trans fluid instead of the dexron 3? type F is thicker and is suggested by b&m for transmissions with there shift kit. cause the fluid is thicker its supposed to keep the shifts firmer even after the trans warms up. i'm getting ready to try type F so i was just wondering if anyone else here has
PaPaPooh
be very very weary about b&m saying that i would not do it personaly do more homework just to be sure you don't shell out 1500 to 2000 for a rebuild
4spdz34
it was just rebuilt with a shift kit, gear and stall about 4000 miles ago, i then took the springs out of the accumulator pistons and pupe brass pipe in there to lock the pistons at the top of there bore. when the trans is cold it will leave about 5 feet of rubber inbetween first and second, but when its hot it only gets a foot and somethimes nothing at all. i have been searching for this info but haven't found it anyewhere. so if anyone else can help, please do

DO NOT run ATF Type F in your tranny. That's Ford Power Steering Fluid. That does not meet transmission specs for GM's. What's the deal that you're not using Dexron III based ATF? 4spdz34
no trans problems, just looking to keep the shifts consitent. ya i know ford uses it for powersteering fluid, but it is a trans fluid. i was also thinking i might try some b&m trick shift or something to the likes of that. anyt thoughts on that? mdelorie
I know at least that MY 4t60 is very picky about it's fluid. I tried some of that B&M "racing" fluid and it was a nightmare. it slipped like mad. My reecommendation: stick to GM Dexron III
