douellette
the cat converter after going up hills? idk if its just cause its a new cat (installed it within 6 months ago), or if its already going bad somehow. Its a "high flow" one made by a brand called Flowmonster.
CSI_MuNkY
Chances are if it was an after market "high flow" it was probably bad before you bought it... The magna flow ones are complete garbage. But yes, a new cat will smell for the first little while, although it should smell any time you get into the throttle, not just on hills... What does it smell like? Jamie

RobertISaar
adding more throttle will heat up a cat pretty quickly... if you go far enough, the PCM will actually richen up the AFR and add spark as an attempt to cool it down. Jamie The Magnaflow ones aren't really a true "cat". It's more like a hollow void to help pass emissions. At least that has been my understanding from talking to people in the past. Although, I've never had any smell in my car. Inside or out.
oscar_wilde
Might want to check for exhaust leaks if you smell it really bad. Otherwise the increased load would probably heat it up really fast and cause a bit of odour.

WhatTheFehl
My car smells like burning oil when it gets up to operating temperature, but I check all the fluids regularly and I am never low. I've kind of just learned to ignore it...
