nickleahy23 Posted March 6, 2010 Report Posted March 6, 2010 Whats up guys? got recommended to this forum from a few guys on my gm truck forum.. my buddies car is having some issues. its a 2001 grand prix with the 3800. it ran fine all day for him until he got to my house. went to start it and it wont stay running...it willc rank for a few seconds then try to start and then within the first second it will start to chug and die...if you keep half throttle it will stay running, but runs super choppy and as soon as you let go it dies... any ideas? I know the EGR may be bad on it, but would that cause this problem? It ran fine all over town and on the highway today and then nothing... thanks for the help guys..im tryin to get him back on the road before sunday when he goes back home.. Quote
cubsfan24 Posted March 6, 2010 Report Posted March 6, 2010 Welcome to the forum! The L67 supercharged 3800 has a issue with the fuel pump resistor and the car will start and die. I don't know if the N/A 3800 has this same issue. I am sure someone else will chime in. Here is a link to the L67 fuel pump resistor FAQ http://www.w-body.com/forum/index.php?topic=85403.0 Quote
nickleahy23 Posted March 6, 2010 Author Report Posted March 6, 2010 cant get it running to see if the light is on or not..it was on before from the EGR code, but that was the only code...id like to get a scanner tomorrow and see if i can find anything, but idk where i can rent one that will let me take it home.. digitaloutsider Posted March 6, 2010 Report Posted March 6, 2010 Is this the Supercharged or N/A 3800? Quote
nickleahy23 Posted March 6, 2010 Author Report Posted March 6, 2010 went out today and it started right up.. im guessing something got wet since the roads are so wet from melting snow, and our parking lot is half frozen/half standing water..im not sure though Quote
rockfangd Posted March 7, 2010 Report Posted March 7, 2010 I would check fuel pressure regardless because fuel pups can be decieving Quote
